Hello, everyone. I'm new and I too would like to know when to meet everyone and what good times most players are on and active. I joined late, very late, last night when it is likely that not many players were on. So, if 100 people play, what time(s) do they tend to play? I'd like to know so that I am not the only person playing at the time. Oh, and I live in AZ so, no daylight savings. Half the year, now, I am on PST. The other half of the year I am on MST. If you could give any time frames in what time Zone they are locally (PST, AZT, MST, CST, EST) where they are at, I can calculate when I should get on with that information. The first Character I created was an Entertainer, which I could sure use some help with remembering how to dole out buff's to others. It's been since the shut down in 2011 that I last played so, it's been 13 years, five children, and another life-time ago since I last played. It's great to be here and I am sure it will be great meeting everyone.

Oh, and can someone tell me why there is only one hair style for human females, the rest of the head styles being horns? No offense meant by asking. Just wondering. Or, there is a good chance that I missed something.

      • Sounds like you chose Zabrak, and not a Human. They look similar, but Zabraks have horns.

      • Best bet is to check the discord for event times, and meet folks there. Or look in the guild recruitment, and join a guild's discord. Most people keep to the guild/guild city. Peak time is 8ish EST.

My CL45 eopie was doing 4k+ auto attacks last night as I was levelling it. It routinely hits for 10k+ as it is.

This is also NOT about the damage the abilities bring to the table, this is about the UTILITY.

A pet with kick (a 6 second stun with no recourse), wind buffet (a massive GB debuff aoe attack), disease (a big ACR debuff), and shaken (10% increase damage debuff) would be absolutely broken in pvp. And this is just ONE potential ability combination off of the top of my head and I haven't even begun thinking about other potential combinations and how to compliment those with a player build.

I'm sorry man, but this is really not a good idea. This would be crazy broken.

    Kick is 2 seconds.
Wind Buffet IS AOE, but only hits one target most of the time as it get blocked. (SOE confirmed working as intended.)

    Also,
"perhaps leaving signature abilities (such as the four you noted, and make things such as bite and claw trainable to all?)" from above.

Disease and Kick (both very strong) have a small % chance to hit AFAIK (BC of the defenses here) I will test that to confirm. Kick may hit regardless.

Shaken is 10% increase to damage taken

    Windbuffet is Glancing blow increase

all this would result in a pet that did very little damage though, which is a tradeoff IMO.

BUT, perhaps leaving signature abilities (such as the four you noted, and make things such as bite and claw trainable to all?

In NGE, most things have become "skins" for cores. Namely, weapons, and armor. Very few things have special effects, as they are lost upon deconstruction.

Now, for better or for worse, that is the current situation.

This brings me to pets. As they currently function now, a pet's skin (family) dictates what specials a pet can learn.
In some cases, this makes sense, such as spiders having poison.
In others, it does not at all. See Horned Raptor with Wind Buffet.

A potential reason to not do this is that the skins show what abilities the pet has, for example, a camel is a kick pet.
However, I personally do not feel this is a major issue. Feel free to discuss.

My proposal is to make any ability trainable to any skin (family), so that you can have your favorite pet skins, with abilities that work best with your build.

For those that are concerned about selectable abilities being too strong, I strongly disagree, as the cooldowns on the "strong" abilities more than make up for it.
The lack of DPS from the pet with high cooldowns is another extreme consequence for doing so.

Let me know what you think πŸ™‚

  • Dark Fury/ Force Lightning fix

Soo ive been doing alot of testing with dark fury and force lightning.. ive notice with or without dark fury at rank 3 frs its a 3 second cooldown period on force lightning. I have also noticed force lightning is capped(at my rank atleast) at 5428 damage unless you roll a crit and is garunteed to miss 2 out of 3 times 95% of the time the other rolls being RNG... maybe swap out on dark fury the cooldown reduction on force lightning to a chance to hit bonus with lightning to fix both? Also force shockwave either increased damage or removed from dark fury and swapped with force drain or maelstrom.

If lightning is single target, then that is normal, becuase they are subject to dodge/parry. Maelstrom and shockwave hit very consistently as a result of them being AOE (not subject to dodge/parry).

After being involved in two pvp scenarios I have realized that my character can not compete and I am curious if it is because of the Alpha Jedi class or if I just need desperately to increase my armor, weapons, make a full suit of 35's and so forth. I can say that not only was I completely squishy I was barely able to even record any damage on the jedi. I do know I have a ways to go for equipment but I will also say it was quite discouraging. I am working on collecting materials for equipment as there is basically nothing that can be purchased at this time. Maybe my character needs a revamp or maybe I just need to focus on making that jump to jedi which I think is a much longer process for a casual player than most deem it to be. I do like that fact that it is earned and not given but at the moment the server is driven by all Jedi, just looking for some incite or suggestions to be relevant in the in game experiences.

I fully main non-jedi. A good understanding of game mechanics are needed to compete however. The lack of damage is a result of never hitting them, consider looking into ways to guarantee hits, or use AOEs instead for the time being. Lack of survivability can be fixed with a solid gear set up/ expertise build. There are many people who are making stuff. But, they usually only do orders, rather than stocking a vendor. Reach out in discord, and see who you can find. Don't get discouraged if it takes a couple days!

    Player Builds

  • Add Defense Stacker Counters in PvP to Jewelry Sets!
    YkeerY Ykeer

My proposal here is three part...
***Reason PvE is not a concern here. PvE is entirely scalable with Hardmodes, guaranteed hit damage (like EK), and mechanical challenges. Having more spread and specialization is not a bad thing imho.

    1. The Reasoning - In PvP, defense is king, if you aren't alive, you cannot do damage. Proper builds can quickly get VERY high single target mitigation (Non AOE attacks, affected by dodge/parry) This in itself is not the problem, and promotes very interesting builds.

    2. The Problem - The downside of this is offensive builds are pushed to the wayside, and heavy weapons become the only viable weapons becuase they can only be mitigated by evasion or block, rendering dodge and parry useless against them outside of specials (bar smuggler cheese proc).

    3. The Fix - Add defense counters to fully offensive jewelry. This will allow builds to more reliably hit specials, and increase build diversity, while not breaking anything. Builds utilizing these set ups will still be extremely squishy. Give and take. Examples to follow.

***Example from Legends - LS duelist set getting a -75% parry reduction on the target. (basically counters the saber block ability, and nullifies parry when it is not up.)
    Examples of my own creation

    • Make the flawless set have a -45% dodge reduction on the target. (along side the guaranteed hit.)
    • Assassin's set to receive -20% dodge and -20% parry reduction on the target.

Different suggestion entirely, but it may be worth considering giving pets a -20% dodge reduction on the target or w/e too!

While I want to see this change come to fruition, do you not foresee this causing a devaluation on the value of a capped pet?

There is no rarity to 11's, unless you are in a rush I suppose. Only barrier to them is "time AFK'd" Hydros are where the value is imho.
