Some Space (QOL) Suggestions
-
One of the many reasons I love the design of this server is the emphasis on actually playing the game, IE a new player could only run instances and raise enough credits to buy what they need to progress. In that same vein, here are a few ideas that would improve the space experience:
- **Enable Bulk Purchasing for Kesh Nunes: **
- Kesh is the Nova Orion vendor that allows you to trade duty tokens for raw space loot
- Since live, you have to buy each part one by one, which has always been a time consuming, brutal process
- Suggestion: If possible, it would be wonderful if you could buy these parts in bulk
- If you could choose the part, then the cert level, then get a pop up similar to the token splitting prompt to enter how many you want, legit wonderful
- As an example, I have roughly 100K duty tokens that I'd have used months ago if I could do this.
- Not only could I obtain more high-end space gear for myself, but I could produce a lot more RE'd parts for players if I could use duty tokens for bulk purchasing.
- Greatly reduce space mining resource requirements for heavy variant starter ships (TIE, Z-95, Scyk):
- These are ships used by beginner pilots (and those that are looking to ace multiple squadrons)
- I'd argue these three player-made ships are the most important to be readily available for players, as their lack of availability is close to a gate for leveling pilot
- When I can actually buy space mining resources (300-325 CPU), I'd have to charge 600K-650K for each of these ships just to break even on just the space mining resources
- A price around 100K would be much better for players
- Suggestion: You need 1,000 units of two different asteroids to make a heavy TIE, reduce that requirement to 100
- With this change I could make a dozen of each of these variants tomorrow that I could post between 100K and 200K
- As things stand today I could make half a dozen total that only veteran players could afford, where I'd have to charge a million credits to make any margin
- Allow pre-programmed flight chips to be turned into schematics for factory runs
- Pre-programmed flight chips make an enormous difference for leveling pilots
- I have the largest store on the server with dozens of vendors ran by three different players
- Pre-programmed flight chips are one of, if not the biggest seller in the whole store
- I have an ace for each faction so I program the chips, another player sells them for 4K each or less (pricing is dependent on tier to make them easy to find)
- The process of pre-programming those flights chips in bulk is mind numbing
- It's very hard to keep up with the demand, and it makes no money, where traffic generation/ helping out the server are the incentives
- I have tried to pay people to do them, to the point I'd be willing to lose credits to get them done, and I've never had a taker
- Suggestion: Change how flight chips are made, so that instead of them only being blank, add a drop down menu (similar to lightsaber style) that has all the potential chip commands at the crafting process, so that they can be ran in factories
- A variant of this screen already exists when an ace pilot programs a flight computer, you'd just need to add the commands for all three factions at the crafting process
- Enable ability to name Astromechs/ Flight Computers
- Another player mentioned this in another thread, but when you have, say, multilpe Lvl 6 flight computers, you can't tell which is which
- Suggestion: Being able to name them would make things much easier
- Space Mining Changes
- I joined Evolve over a year ago, and I've been able to buy space mining resources from only three players during that span
- It's always been tough to get enough space mining resources to maintain P.O.B. parts stock, even on most live servers
- I'm currently putting out 60 million credits to get enough space mining resources to outfit roughly 35 P.O.B.'s in total, and I'll likely be short on guns
- **Suggestion 1: **At least double the amount taken in while space mining. Increasing it by more might kill the price miners can get, so I think doubling the take in is the equilibrium
- Suggestion 2: There should be some kind of alternative to get space mining resources, either a vendor that charges 400 CPU and/ or an option added to the trade vendor. I lean towards only implimenting the 400 CPU alternative as it would still be much better to hire someone to do it when possible, where even if the trade token option was expensive that could hurt spice miners
To be clear with all of these suggestions, I already have close to everything I could need for personal use, my goal here is to make important aspects of space more available to the player base, so that the space community can conceivably grow.

Well I would for the flight computers just make it you have to craft each one. For all the basic and 1-4
Both for the astromechs take out the deed for the unit make it like the flight computers to craft it like that. Not make droids long process. Just for one.
Maybe you can do a miner event that will help get more mats that way.

I'm not gonna reply to everything, just gonna cherry pick some things.
As for the KAsh bulk request; heck yeah.... The one by one picking of items has been a thorn in my side as well.

I made a heavy Z-95 Headhunter for someone not to long ago. I charged about 10 CPU for the resources and rounded it off towards 50K for the entire starship. I seriously have no idea why people would charge and/or offer 300 - 350 cpu for any given resource. All it does is raise the inflation that is seamingly starting to rampage like it was when this game was live. It only makes it way harder for anyone joining to get not only into piloting, but basically into everything.
Don't reduce the amount of resources needed, find someone that does not adhere to a "get rich quick" scheme.

I would make another suggestion: make both the mining lasers and the tractor beam be operable by the pilot in the Y-8. I distinctively remember this being the case when the game was live, until SOW decided in their ultimate wisdom to "fix" this while grouping was already hard.
I don't mind space mining at all. In fact, I kind of enjoy it. I loaded up my X-Wing with a mining laser, a tractor beam, one regular blaster and a large starfighter crago hold (5K) specifically for it. I go up in the Tatoo system and start mining there. By the time I am done, I have 5K in space resources.

If you are willing to space mine at 10 cpu, or know someone that will, please give me their in game name as I will buy extraordinary amounts of certain resources while showering them with extras to show my grattitude. If you have someone that will essentially sort lightsaber kits in mass, same deal as I'd love to charge much less for them.
As things stand 300 CPU has been the standard price for a long time (set by someone that isn't me) and it's been generally difficult to get many willing takers, and I've only gotten two that were willing to do noteworthy volume. I have yet to find someone that will sort lightsaber kits.
I'm not personally going to mass spice mine because 1. I don't really enjoy it and 2. I would rather spend my in game time on other things, but sure I think any optimization for those that do would be great.
I don't mean this to come off as harsh, as sometimes tone can be lost in text, but one of the greatest aspects of SWG is that it's an unregulated, truly free market economy. That means anyone that doesn't like the pricing of anything can take it upon themselves to stockpile the resources for that item(s) and completely dictate the price for that item(s) in that market.
For me, my goal is to provide supply on many relevant goods (so that they are available) while setting a price baseline that gives others enough room to undercut me. If anyone does undercut me with sustainable volume, I will then undercut them, and that's how "inflation" falls.

I wanted to share my thoughts on your ideas:

1. Enable Bulk Purchasing for Kesh Nunes
- I fully support this idea—being able to purchase bulk items from Kesh would be a fantastic improvement.
- In the meantime, there's a useful workaround via a chat macro developed by a guild member in “GO” (credit to Pupp):
/conversationStart;
/pause .1;
/npcConversationSelect 0;
/pause .1;
/npcConversationSelect 9;

/npcConversationSelect 7;
/pause .1;
/npcConversationSelect 0;Change the "9" to a value between 0–9 for Tier, and the "7" to a value between 0–7 for the Type.

2. Reduce Resource Requirements for Heavy Variant Starter Ships (TIE, Z-95, Scyk)
- If there's going to be balancing done on ship variants, it should be applied across all ships. Making high-mass variants cheaper and easier to build than standard ones could make the standard versions obsolete.

3. Convert Pre-Programmed Flight Chips into Factory Schematics
- Adding crafted pre-programmed flight chips would be a great addition.
- I think they should be distinct items, each with different resource requirements based on their tier.

4. Enable Naming of Astromechs/Flight Computers
- This feature was resolved in the most recent hotfix/chapter update.

5. Space Mining Adjustments
- A slight boost to space mining resource yields could be beneficial.
- I recommend starting with small increases (perhaps no more than a 1.5x multiplier) to see how it impacts the market before going further.
-
I craft a lot of POB parts too, and do my share of space mining, so agree with you would be nice to have another way to acquire. My unsolicited suggestion:
Add 1 of each asteroid to Deep Space. Make the asteroid bandits 3x tier 5 gunboats. TRIPLE the yield. Increase the huge POB cargo hold to 30k capacity. Take a small crew in a gunship and rake it in.Tackles several goals simultaneously - more space content, more group content, more opportunities for space noobs to join in a space fun without needing equipment or much skill, encourages PvP, and of course a good source of asteroid resources.
BTW love the suggestions for naming flight computers as well as for programming flight chips in bulk. Related to this, I think Draskon was exploring giving pilots abilities/skills to run overloads on par with your tier skill level so that you wouldn't even need chips potentially. Just the Flight computer/Astromech. Will have to check with him if something like that still on the docket.

I hope they dont remove the need for a droid engineer crafter by doing that.

If you looking for more ways to get mining resources. I would maybe tie the convoy missions with getting a deed for space resources.
Also you can do a bandit kill count daily mission a day to get additional resources. But for the lvl of mining since we want to get people to do space. Not everyone is awesome flying in space to be able to complete it. That if it’s to hard for them.
Also make a grinder that breaks space
parts you don’t need to resources.Add a chip that can give ability to mining more resources. Drop that comes out In hardmode.

TCG had an item that gave a 50% increase to asteroid mining yields. It'll likely be added at some point for traders who need it. Whether it be added to the vendor or at the end of a questline or something, who knows.

One of these days we should have an economy chat, most of the stuff I mention is geared towards making the public economy better to help grow the player base.
I think that's a good idea, but my push back would be: 1. Rez has limited bandwidth, if we're going to try to get him to create new space content would you agree that space mining content should be at the back of that list? 2.

Macros are a major weakness of mine but I will definitely check that out and I truly appreciate it.
I also appreciate your thoughtful approach with the other stuff
I view most of this stuff from a business lens
- Rezec's time is the most valuable asset for this business (this server)
- My goal with this kind of stuff is to improve the public economy because that's the area I can have the biggest impact in helping grow the server's population
Re-balancing all the ships or creating more space content is going to be labor intensive, reducing one or two resource requirements to make a starter ship more affordable is a much easier (and thus more possible) fix to reduce the barrier of entry to grinding pilot.
I think the heavy variants belong in their own bucket because their availability has a huge impact on new pilots being able to grind space.
I know for me I have four ace pilots and I did ace of aces on one, I used the heavy variants, Advanced X-Wing, Tie Defender, Vaksai and the JSF on the guy I did all 9 squadrons with. Would you agree that the rest of the ships are much more niche? I love space, so I wouldn't mess with how anything works, personally, where if new ships were introduced I think their viability should be in line with the current elite ships. Off the top of my head the heavy variants and the Defender are the only fighters that require space resources, I'm good with it on the Defender as that's end game content that should be exclusive, where I feel the heavy variants primary role is to make life easier for new pilots.
My only push back on No. 5 is that I think I'd take the reverse path, meaning jack up the rate early to see if it jump starts the niche market of space mining and then scale it back if enough competition emerges.
Also I've been meaning to reach out about this, as I believe you're the leader of GO, if you guys need armor to get going, message me on Arsenal in Discord or on Anvil in game, I might be able to help.

Me and you should probably have a voice chat on the server economy one day, I bet it would be good.
I like your idea, it's pretty sharp all around, but I have a few push backs
- If Rez is going to work on space content, would it be optimal to make it mining focused?
- If we are going to try to promote space PVP, and I think we're getting close to being able to do that, I think gunship vs gunship or POB vs POB would pique more interest

When we enhance Space PvP, Id love to iron out details on enemy boarding.
