Overview

The Dump Bin is a new convenience feature designed to streamline item organization within player homes. This system allows players to deposit multiple items into a single bin, which will automatically attempt to sort those items into existing containers in the home that already contain the same item type.

If no suitable container is found, or the existing container is full, the items will remain in the Dump Bin until space becomes available.

This feature is intended to reduce the time players spend managing inventory and increase the overall quality-of-life for home ownership.

Functionality

    • Placement & Access

    • The Dump Bin is a placeable object inside player homes.

    • Players can interact with the bin to deposit items from their inventory.

    • Automatic Sorting

    • When the player closes the bin interface, all items inside the Dump Bin are automatically distributed to existing containers in the home that already contain the same item type.

    • No matching container found or container full: the items remain in the Dump Bin.

    • Supported Items

    • All tradable and placeable items can be sorted.

    • Quest or unique items can be excluded if needed to prevent issues.

Benefits

    • Time-Saving: Players can deposit multiple items at once rather than placing them individually in containers.
    • Improved Organization: Ensures containers maintain grouped items without disrupting existing setups.
    • Encourages Home Use: Simplifies inventory management, making player homes more functional and appealing.
    • Predictable Behavior: Players will know that items remain in the Dump Bin if they cannot be placed, avoiding accidental misplacement.

Summary
The Dump Bin provides a quality-of-life improvement for home inventory management. By automatically depositing items into existing containers of the same type, it reduces tedious micromanagement while ensuring organization and predictability. Items that cannot be placed remain in the Dump Bin, giving players full control over their home storage.

Can it force stacking of multiple stacks of stackable items like Junk Loot that the game seems to think are different for some reason?

This is a bug that I have noticed as well but I don't think it has ever been addressed to figure out what causes it. Just really low on the priority list. But maybe it would fix them I don't know.
