Agree with Nord on this one. Came across MANDO guild AFK'ing the Imp Stronghold on Lok for GCW. Just hit an invasion, you get 5k per win and another 5k if the General is killed. Super annoying when players goto flip the galaxy GCW and cant because of one zone that is super saturated with GCW.
Also dont need to afk much of anything here, make the correct build and you can legit nuke 95% of everything, no issues.
In actuality MANDO was not farming gcw the toons out there were farming housing improvement collections and weapons augs enhancements it just so happens to kill this npcs you must be combatant. These characters do not PvP nor care about rank. Next time it would be appreciated if you do not openly assume someone is doing something and ask the guild/people involved directly what they are doing. Thank you

RE:GCW
Except for the fact that there are massive rewards and buffs from GCW, which should definitely NOT be AFKable. Play the game.
i agree with this, as for the rest i cba if you afk at a poi as long as you have group loot on random and an invite macro running. none of that Master Looter /whisper crap they allow on legends.

Nothing wrong with it, if they got invite macro. Just comes across that were here to have fun and relax not be worried no reason to have the CSR police on the patrol.
I agree. It's a 20 year old game. Most people still play this to have fun and enjoy the game. As long as an invite macro is going and not taking up the entire spawn I see nothing wrong with it. People will not want to feel like csr are out to patrol and police everything they are doing in game and that can cause issues for a player base. Let people enjoy the game without feeling like they need to be looking over thier shoulder all the time thinking they are doing something wrong. Credits have been nerfed anyways. Not like they getting rich.

After you read a lot of the subtext here, this seems like the age old gripe of some that people farming GCW while not Special Forces, is somehow illegitimate.
People farming a POI, if used with an invite macro and shared loot, isn't going to harm the server OR the economy, only the fragility of those who can't prey on others who don't enjoy PVP.

There are plenty of ATK PvE activities for farming GCW. In fact, there is even MORE ATK PvE potential for GCW than there currently is for PvP. This is not a PvE vs PvP debate, and suggesting that there is when it has not even remotely been a part of the conversation is disingenuous.

If the POI is not tied to a mission objective, there should be no restriction. I am fine with the rules on GCW farming AFK and the obvious DWB / krayt farming. CSRs also need to recognize a GCW grind vs a Faction Point grind (which awards nothing to GCW or leaderboards). A Faction Point grind is relatively quick 30 mins or so to go from 5000 fp in one faction to 200 fp in another. The only thing Faction Points affect in the game is switching factions for space. These are usually in the old Cries of Alderaan locations (that also do not disrupt badge hunters). Hopefully the Gestapo manifest in place lightens up.

As long as no one is blocking you completing missions or being a troll, or as I saw with the MANDO guild, running an invite macro and keeping a tight middle formation so others could do their missions in peace, then thereβs no problem.

I don't see an issue with afk'ing majority of the POI's or afk'ing gcw since there is very little credits to be gained. There are a few POI's that could cause issues because of what the mobs drop (Nightsister vs SMC) but that could be dealt with in an alternative manner, like setting a macro dump zone in that area. I think it should be mandatory to run an invite or join macro while you're afk'ing anything.

CSR's should not have to patrol or police the server, I agree feels like you can't farm simple stuff like holo's hide or meat with out feeling like a felon. You could make the hot spots for gcw require you to be S.F. example- Imperial strong hold on Lok. that way players can still farm but run the risk of other players. an Area invite ability would be helpful to..

Nah, Rebel theme park goes through there. You shouldn't be forcing PVP for PVE content.

The game being old has nothing to do with anything. Of course we all play this to have fun and enjoy it but you aren't playing the game when you are afk. I've never ever felt like a CSR was watching me or felt like I was being policed and thats because I follow the rules and dont abuse exploits or broken systems. I report every bug I find hell I even reported on how the junk dealer limit could be circumvented and that got fixed in a patch, you can even check the logs during that time and see that I did not abuse it when it was possible. Just like in real life the only people who fear the cops are the ones committing the crime. Nerfing credit drops is great and a good direction lets keep going in that direction. Resources on this server are already worthless because I can have up to 8 characters handsampling and place tons of elite harvesters everywhere (I know for a fact people are doing this) how much more stuff do we want to devalue on this server?

Yet another hot topic of debate.
Some people are against AFK at POIs, some people are for AFK at POIs (following the rules set forth in AFK Policy)
Lets hear everyone's opinions.
I been playing this game at the start and never was that ever a problem on live so seeing that I like to say I hear for fun and put the cops away and let them play.

SWG has been dead and brought back several times over. There are way worse things than "AFK farming at POI's" there are many people that don't have as much time to play and have to rely on AFK farming, honestly no one afk farming has ever affected my ability to play the game. If 5 people killing a group of mods completely ruins your day there's more to worry about then AFK farming. I say we follow live AFK policies and stop trying to reinvent the wheel to please people.

I personally don't see an issue with it, as long as people are respectful and invite, or don't monopolize an entire location.

I don't think the vast majority that are for it are understanding supply and demand of an economy and how flooding markets with such a vast amount of supply with a low population server... it's only going to crash things.
AFKing POIs wouldn't be so bad if there were more competition (i.e. players) competing for spawns/markets, and when we have people admitting to multi-accounting on these spawns, the benefitted amount from such spawns is so ridiculously more than what the game was intended for, it will only have negative downstream effects in keeping the server growing.
A server full of 30-40 people that are ecstatic they got all of the things is not a healthy server.
This cannot and should not be Beyond 2.0.

I think you underestimate the "understanding" of the vast majority of the players... we get it, I would hazard a guess the majority of the population have been through the death and rebirth of SWG for going on decades now... and would guess 99% of players understand basic supply and demand.... yes, flooding markets can be detrimental, but in this specific case it does not directly determine market prices or inflation, or even mean they will be.... it's simple, this server is in the early stage of life, it has to grow and growing fast doesnt mean its going to blow everything out of proportion. There is more than one way to balance this and just saying no takes away alot of chances for some people to stay current, catch up, or help others to be relevant. How many of us have started new servers well into their life to grind away menial tasks just to hope that we could be up to speed relatively quickly. This just gives people a chance to catch up without taking away other time that can be spent doing other things. Those kind of adjustments can be made in other areas, and with other restrictions, that can reign things in if they get out of hand, or start to slip in that direction. GCW should be off limits, help keep people honest and worthwhile to spend the time on, POIs should be limited, no botting excessive toons to farm mobs, set a limit on the number of toons based on mob difficulty and stick to it. Keep it to one area to allow others to move through and continue on/collect the same things. Have an active invite macro to allow someone to join and leave to ensure there is always a place for someone to collect the kills if needed.. maintain the 250k limit on junk dealers, and set a max cap per day (750k-1m for example), to keep multiple account AFK farmers from rolling in excessive amounts of credits.
It also doesn't mean markets will be flooded either.... I have probably millions of resources, have never listed a single item, haven't made a single credit, and have crafted enough weapons for people that I could outfit 6 accounts for life already... just because it could, doesn't mean it will...
Let's face it, many of us have been through too many resets and false starts to want to regrind pre-cu experiences, to suffer for years just hoping things go our way and RNG blesses us with all our needs.... yes, it shouldn't be a day to have Max cap resources for everything, billions of credits, and nothing else to live for. But it shouldn't be a slug paced grind up mount everest either. Things may change, and there may be a time it needs ammended. But killing AFK isn't going to do anything but more than likely kill morale and player base.....
Sorry for the novel... but assuming people don't understand or care is a bad way to try and make a point about something many of us have dealt with, and frankly are tired of dealing with in a game we are all so clearly passionate about..... we brought it back from the grave again and again, because there is value there, just need to polish the diamond, and that takes nothing but time and care

This could be covered in the afk rules. So while gcw afk would be bad, just regular poi with invite macro would not hurt anyone.
