**Proposal: Improve Droid Naming and Add Naming Support for Flight Computers

Overview:**
This proposal suggests two related quality-of-life improvements for Star Wars Galaxies:

• Streamline the existing droid naming process, which is currently functional but unintuitive and inconvenient.
• Introduce the ability to name flight computers, which currently cannot be renamed, making it difficult to manage multiple loadouts.

Both changes aim to enhance usability, organization, and immersion for players engaged in crafting, support roles, and space combat.

Current State:
Players can name their droids, but the process is buried behind slash commands or non-obvious steps. For many, it's inconvenient and often overlooked.

Issues:

• Lack of visibility or prompts for naming during or after droid creation.
• No easy UI access to rename droids later.
• Custom names are not clearly displayed or integrated into the datapad or in-world display.

Proposed Improvements:

• Add a “Rename Droid” option to the radial menu when interacting with a droid.
• Display the custom name clearly above the droid in-world and in the datapad list.
• Improve tooltip or UI prompts during crafting to encourage naming at creation.
• Keep existing slash commands but supplement with more accessible options.

Benefits:

• Helps players quickly identify droids with specific modules or purposes (e.g., “CraftDroid – Food”, “Combat Buff Bot”).
• Reduces mistakes during crafting or combat support roles.
• Increases immersion by allowing players to personalize their droids easily.

Current State:
Flight computers cannot currently be named at all. This becomes a problem when players maintain multiple flight computers for different ships or space roles.

Issues:

• Players must remember which flight computer corresponds to which loadout.
• No way to organize or distinguish between loadouts in the interface.
• Increases the chance of loading the wrong module set, especially in high-pressure PvP or PvE scenarios.

Proposed Implementation:

• Add a “Rename Flight Computer” option either in the inventory, ship terminal UI, or datapad.
• Display the custom name in the flight computer selection screen.
• Add support for basic text input, character limits, and optional filters.

Benefits:

• Enables easy differentiation between loadouts like “PvP Dogfighter”, “Bomber Loadout”, or “PvE Grinder”.
• Improves organization and efficiency in space gameplay.
• Adds a layer of customization and professionalism for advanced pilots.

Also, remove the restrictions against using numbers. The droid vendors are named things like J3DI, and most the droids in the movies this is based on have numbers in their names(R2-D2, C-3P0, BB-8, etc.), it is beyond ridiculous that I have to name my droid RV-PVI instead of R5-P6. Let's evolve...

Also it should be removed for character creation when naming as well. i wanted to make a few alts full cyborg'd up with #d names. People who play as/rp clones & troopers may like that too.
