I don't think the vast majority that are for it are understanding supply and demand of an economy and how flooding markets with such a vast amount of supply with a low population server... it's only going to crash things.
AFKing POIs wouldn't be so bad if there were more competition (i.e. players) competing for spawns/markets, and when we have people admitting to multi-accounting on these spawns, the benefitted amount from such spawns is so ridiculously more than what the game was intended for, it will only have negative downstream effects in keeping the server growing.
A server full of 30-40 people that are ecstatic they got all of the things is not a healthy server.
This cannot and should not be Beyond 2.0.
I think you underestimate the "understanding" of the vast majority of the players... we get it, I would hazard a guess the majority of the population have been through the death and rebirth of SWG for going on decades now... and would guess 99% of players understand basic supply and demand.... yes, flooding markets can be detrimental, but in this specific case it does not directly determine market prices or inflation, or even mean they will be.... it's simple, this server is in the early stage of life, it has to grow and growing fast doesnt mean its going to blow everything out of proportion. There is more than one way to balance this and just saying no takes away alot of chances for some people to stay current, catch up, or help others to be relevant. How many of us have started new servers well into their life to grind away menial tasks just to hope that we could be up to speed relatively quickly. This just gives people a chance to catch up without taking away other time that can be spent doing other things. Those kind of adjustments can be made in other areas, and with other restrictions, that can reign things in if they get out of hand, or start to slip in that direction. GCW should be off limits, help keep people honest and worthwhile to spend the time on, POIs should be limited, no botting excessive toons to farm mobs, set a limit on the number of toons based on mob difficulty and stick to it. Keep it to one area to allow others to move through and continue on/collect the same things. Have an active invite macro to allow someone to join and leave to ensure there is always a place for someone to collect the kills if needed.. maintain the 250k limit on junk dealers, and set a max cap per day (750k-1m for example), to keep multiple account AFK farmers from rolling in excessive amounts of credits.
It also doesn't mean markets will be flooded either.... I have probably millions of resources, have never listed a single item, haven't made a single credit, and have crafted enough weapons for people that I could outfit 6 accounts for life already... just because it could, doesn't mean it will...
Let's face it, many of us have been through too many resets and false starts to want to regrind pre-cu experiences, to suffer for years just hoping things go our way and RNG blesses us with all our needs.... yes, it shouldn't be a day to have Max cap resources for everything, billions of credits, and nothing else to live for. But it shouldn't be a slug paced grind up mount everest either. Things may change, and there may be a time it needs ammended. But killing AFK isn't going to do anything but more than likely kill morale and player base.....
Sorry for the novel... but assuming people don't understand or care is a bad way to try and make a point about something many of us have dealt with, and frankly are tired of dealing with in a game we are all so clearly passionate about..... we brought it back from the grave again and again, because there is value there, just need to polish the diamond, and that takes nothing but time and care
