Mods Overview

SWG Evolve runs on a fully modernized 64-bit client and server. As part of that transition, the numerous community-made client modifications long-time SWG players may be used to — texture packs, UI overlays, DLL injects, and other 32-bit era tools — are largely built against the old 32-bit architecture and are not compatible with Evolve's client.

Mods are not supported on SWG Evolve.

Instead of relying on third-party client modifications, Evolve builds quality-of-life and visual improvements directly into the official client and server, so every player has access to the same experience without needing to install anything extra or risk compatibility issues.

Why Mods Aren't Supported

  • Architecture mismatch. Most legacy SWG mods were written for the 32-bit client. Evolve's move to a 64-bit foundation changes core structures those mods depended on, so they generally won't load, will crash the client, or will behave unpredictably even if they appear to install.
  • Stability first. Because mods sit outside Evolve's official client, they can introduce crashes, desyncs, or other issues that are difficult to diagnose or reproduce — for the player experiencing them and for the team trying to help.
  • A level playing field. Baking improvements into the client itself instead of leaving them to individual third-party tools means every player benefits equally, with no gap between who has the "right" mods installed and who doesn't.

Have an Idea for an Improvement?

If you think a feature, UI element, or quality-of-life change from a mod you've used elsewhere would be a good fit for Evolve, we want to hear about it. Rather than installing unsupported client modifications, submit a suggestion through the official website and the development team can evaluate it for a future update — built the right way, for everyone.

Gameplay Stability Notice

If you experience crashes, visual glitches, or other stability issues:

  • Confirm you're running the official, unmodified Evolve client.
  • Remove any leftover files, folders, or configuration changes from previous SWG installations or mods.
  • If issues persist, test the game using a clean default Evolve installation before reporting the issue.
