Ayusaru's player build theory for SWG Evolve

8/18/2024 Update - Glancing Blow, Strikethrough.

With the release of SWG Evolve Chapter 3.2 I am planning to update my build theory and release info on what made me (Ayusaru) so Tanky in PVP in the previous Chapter 3.1.
So please look through once more my guide for those returning.

This is not a build guide in the sense of choose these specific areas of expertise.
It is to highlight expertise and theory of what I think is more valuable vs. what is not.
This should not be the end all guide to making builds, one should learn from experience and research.
SWG Evolve is evolving so this guide is based off of mechanics from SWG Evolve Chapter 3.1 and 3.2.

For those new to the server I highly recommend viewing the adjustments to the stats.*

DEFENSE:

Values and Defense Rolls may change overtime as the SWG Evolve server evolves into its final form.

Below is an example breakdown of how the Attack Roll works in SWG NGE mechanics.

*If Applicable it applies to Melee attacks, but also to Ranged with Lightsaber.

Quoting from SWG Legends wiki.

The combat system rolls: 900 to defend the attack.
Your Dodge Chance is 15%
Is 150 > 900? No.
Your Parry Chance is 20%
is 150 + 200 > 900? No.
Your Block Chance is 30%
is 150+200+300 > 900? No.
Your Glancing Blow Chance is 30%
is 150+200+300+300 > 900? Yes
You glance the attack
"

Things to take away from the following information.
1. Dodge can completely avoid single target Hit damage.
2. Dodge is your single most powerful defense against single target Hits.
3. Parry acts very similar to Dodge especially for Jedi since Lightsabers can Parry ranged attacks.
4. Block/Glance is your last line of defense both against Single and Area of Effect damage.
5. You cannot completely avoid Area of Effect damage, but you can reduce it to 0 damage.
6. Area of Effect attacks are superior in dealing damage and when applying Debuffs or DoTs as they should always apply.

SWG Evolve has a capped standard Dodge of 75%, capped standard Crit chance of 75% released as part of Chapter 3 and 3.1.
Dodge has diminishing returns, that being the case getting closer to 75% takes +2 Dodge to achieve +1 Dodge.
With the introduction of 3.2 the calculations for Dodge and other defenses from Exotics and PuPs have been returned to there original NGE state.

"Dodge, Parry, Block Chance, Evasion Chance, and Strikethrough Chance Pups and Exotic Attachments have been returned to their original divisors (+10 again grants 1% of the respective stat’s chance). This affects Pups and Exotic Attachments only."

How does this effect builds that existed in 3.1 moving into 3.2. Dodge is significantly more difficult to obtain.

Suggestion if your trying to stack Dodge you will want to stack Agility instead. Agility will provide 0.35% across many defenses verses 0.40% in your exotic attachment.

Talk about Glancing Blow. Glancing Blow reduces damage received by 60% on a successful glance. In testing Glancing Blow of 40% or higher I never a noticable glance in PVP, especially when receiving Critical Hits. I do however find that Glancing Blow works wonderfully in PVE.

Talk about Strikethrough. There is 3 stages to strikethrough, 1st did you land a strikethrough, 2nd did that strikethrough critical, 3rd what is the value of strikethrough that bypassed armor. Looking at one of my favorite attacks Snipe capable of hitting 17k damage. If it lands with a strikethrough it will land about 6.5-7.5k damage, if it received a critical it will land with 15k+, if the strikethrough value was 99% with will have bypassed all armor landing for close to 17k damage. In testing strikethrough also bypasses many cooldown defenses, noteable cooldown defenses that get bypassed is Commando: Stand Fast, Jedi: Barrier, Squad Leader: Emergency Shield, Squad Leader: Toughen. It does not bypass however Doctor: Stasis, Jedi: Stasis, Bounty Hunter: Shields, Assassin: Decoy.

STATS N BUFF STACKING:

What to say about stats Strength, Constitution, Stamina, Precision, Agility, Luck?

There is a limited number of access to stats located in...
Melee Skillset, Range Skillset, Crafting Skillset.

Followed by clothing and armor stats from attachments made by Reverse Engineering.
13 Pieces of Clothing, Armor, Weapon (x2) that have stats.
Helmet, Chest, Shirt, Bandolier (or Backpack), Pants, Belt (or Backpack, Shield),
Boots, L.Bicep, R.Bicep, L.Bracer, R.Bracer, Gloves, Weapon.
Each item can hold 3x +35 stat crafted by a Reverse Engineer.

Jewelry Set (5x)
Jewelry Set looted or obtained through Heroic rewards.

Buff stacking. Common buffs include...
Medic Buffs (7x)
Squad Leader Buffs (4+1=5x Tactical Stim)
(Note Experience Leadership will apply to group by the Squad Leader targeting themselves when applying)
Entertainer Buffs (1x Inspiration + 1x Lasting Performance)
Smuggler Buff (1x)
Powerups (PUPs, crafted by Reverse Engineering) (3x)
Mustafarian Injector Buff (1x)
Additional Mustafar Buffs (2+x Limited)
Ranked GCW Flag Buffs (8+1x Jedi)
Additional Ranked GCW Buffs
Food and Drink Buffs (crafted by Chefs)(1+1=2x)
Spice Buffs (1x)

Cybernetic
Reverse Engineering Arm (Luck)
Cybernetic Strength Arm (Strength buff)

Things to take away from considering stats.
1. You may struggle to Defend or Hit your target, you may consider changing your stats to focus where you need them.

2. There is a limited number of sources to increase a players Hit from stats. This especially applies in PVP.

3. Luck is powerful this is the stat that made my character (Ayusaru) very Tanky in SWG Evolve Chapter 3.1.
Luck is not the win all of defense, it doesn't protect against area attacks and DoTs, and it can be difficult to stack Luck.
Lucky Dodge rolls before all other defense.
Luck provides a Guaranteed Hit chance which rolls before all other offense modifiers.
Luck can provide some action cost reduction by removing action cost on skills (especially healing skills).
My take away from using Luck. 900 Luck (9% Lucky Chance) almost all heals cost 0 action. 12% Lucky Chance you get more hits and occasional dodge.
15-16% You dodge significantly and hit significantly often. 20% is godlike* when receiving single target hits.
*Note as more players begin applying Luck into there builds Luck vs Luck in PVP seems to lend itself to Guaranteed Hits vs Dodge.
How to achieve 9%+ Lucky Chance, Armor/Clothing Attachments ((12x35)+28+(+/-50 Backpack)=448(498))+(35 or 49 Second Weapon), Entertainer Buff (300), Smuggler GCW Flag (100), Smuggler Buff (50) Food (200), PuPs (117x3=351), Muon Gold (50), Heroic Jewelry (150-250 depends on Jewelry), Reverse Engineering Arm (30 or 100, it replaces 2 pieces of armor), Reverse Engineering with max 25 expertise points to gain full Luck (700).
In theory this will grant a total of 2529 Luck. Do understand 25 points is a heavy investment in Reverse Engineering and can wreck a lot of build ideas.
You can take this further with Victory buff from Mustafar Droid Army Heroic Instance (1hr +200), Meatlump Kiss from Meatlump Theme Park (1hr +100), Retaliation Shard (3min +200). That would take you up to 3029 Luck.
Most I have every run was 21% with Retaliation and Victory Buff along with some of the above choices.

Don't shy away from creating and operating Alternate characters on your account. You have access to 7+1 Jedi on your account.
I personally gain most of my Buff stacking from...
Ranked GCW Entertainer Smuggler
Squad Leader / Master Doctor

EXPERTISE IDEAS FOR BUILDS:

On to expertise, it is what makes SWG Evolve especially unique. Pick and choose.
YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO TAKE ALL BOXES OF THE GIVEN CLASSES.

Depending on what role you plan to play and if you are planning PVE or PVP here is some ideas.

If going Melee Tank you will likely focus on Teras Kasi, has a lot of Block and Parry, prior to 3.2 also had Dodge. (TKM Steel Body Jewelry Set, for more Block and B. Value)

If going Range tank you will likely focus on Commando, has a lot of Dodge and Evasion. (Commando Frontman Jewelry Set, for more Block and B. Value)

If going PVE Single Target Damage recommend Fencer or Carbineer, has alot of proc chance damage that can trigger off of any hit. Proc damage generally is not high enough to use in pvp as you need to deliver more then 2500 damage against Tank based players.

If going PVE Area Damage recommend Grenadier or Heavy Weapon Specialist and Back it up with Commando for additional Devestation.

If going Doctor be sure to get Master Doctor and run Doctor Stance (+60% Heal Potency, -40 Damage Output). (First Responder Jewelry Set for faster cooldown on revive)

If going PVP Assist recommend Squad Leader and or Commando. Position Secure from Commando provides significant Damage boost along with Action Reduction and Critical Hit Reduction as of 3.2. Squad Leader has a lot of Buffs that can benefit any group (Generals Jewelry Set for faster cooldown of buffs).

If going PVP Single Target Damage recommend Smuggler and or Bounty Hunter. Smuggler ability Impossible Odds is devestating along with its other class debuffs. Bounty Hunter has a lot of single target attacks to take down Bounty as of 3.2. Supplement with Strikethrough and High Critical from Melee or Ranged Skillsets along with Assassin.


Things to note about choice of Expertise.
1. YOU CANNOT HAVE BOTH TERAS KASI AND COMMANDO.
2. You must master Melee or Range Skillset before selecting a Combat Skillset.
3. Melee skills can be used with all Melee weapons.
4. Most Range skills can be used with Pistols, Carbines, Rifles, except where noted and sometimes Melee.


Choosing Damage choices through expertise.
Personally I would rather universal damage vs. specialized damage.

Examples of things I would avoid for specialized damage.
Vital Strike Damage
Sweeping Pirouette Damage
Ambush Damage
Sure Shot Damage
Assault Damage
Cripple Damage

Examples of things I would choose for universal damage
Polearm Damage
Two-Handed Damage
1-Handed Damage
Unarmed Damage
Pistol Damage
Carbine Damage
Rifle Damage
Grenade Damage
Heavy Weapon Damage
All Attack Damage (Assassin)

Why I would rather universal damage over specialized damage?
Universal damage will apply to all attacks using the given weapon choice.
What good is specialized damage if you fire once and have to wait to use the attack again
wasting points that could have been universal on multiple attack abilities.

Taking to much single target damage.
Get Dodge higher, Sadly this is more difficult to achieve in 3.2. (Most PVE is Single Target).
Go Commando, get Deflective Armor (16% Dodge).
Go Doctor, get Evasion* (30% Dodge for few seconds)
Go Squad Leader, get Toughen* (20% Dodge for a few seconds)
Go Assassin, get Avoid Damage* (50% Dodge for a few seconds)
PuPs are not a good source of Dodge since 3.2.
Get Block higher (Be sure to supplement with Block Value)
Frontmans or Steel Body is the single best source for this defense state.
PuPs are okay but not a good source of Block since 3.2.
Luck is powerful but going Luck vs Luck in PVP you will find you cannot avoid damage as often from a High Luck player.
*Evasion, Toughen, Avoid Damage these abilities can provide a significant defense for a short period of time, but may be needed to be activated with precision to gain the most benefit.

Taking to much area of effect damage.
Get Block (Be sure to supplement with Block Value) or Evasion (Be sure to supplement with Evasion Value which is %).
Best sources of Block are Steel Body Jewelry Set for Teras Kasi Master.
Cap out the Block Value with Attachments and Jewelry sets Steel Body or Frontman.
Best sources of Evasion are Commando Blast Resistance, and Grenadier's Blast AOE Blast.
Cap out the Evasion Value with a pet.

Taking to much damage in PVP.
Go Bounty Hunter, get Shields it significantly reduces damage received.
Go Commando, get Stand Fast (75% Damage Reduction if fully specced)
Go Toughen (20% Damage Reduction, not as powerful as Shields and Stand Fast)
Go Doctor, get Evasion (30% Dodge, not as powerful as Shields and Stand Fast)
Go Assassin, get Avoid Damage (50% Dodge, not as powerful as Shields and Stand Fast)
Go Doctor, get Stasis Field (This will reduce the damage you receive by 99% generally used to save a players life)

Not dealing enough damage.
Get Assassin expertise (2 Additional Attacks for 9 points expertise).
Advanced Strikes (Applies a debuff that stacks to cause more damage).
Assassinate
Consider other debuffs that can be applied to players causing them to take additional damage.
Consider using a Combat Dummy to test what skills are dealing less damage to save expertise for something better.
Looking at you Sweeping Kick which does less then Standard Hit worth of damage if you do not apply the extra Expertise into Controlled Spin.

Issues with keeping Action up.
Go Assassin expertise,
Cheap Strikes, 20% Action Cost Reduction
Get Entertainer buffs.
Inspiration, 9% Action Cost Reduction.
Lasting Performance, 5% Action Cost Reduction.
Get Squad Leader buffs.
Experienced Leadership, 10% Action Cost Reduction.
Drill Master, 5% Action Cost Reduction.
Tactical Serum (Stim), 7% Action Cost Reduction.
Get some Stamina, Stamina provides 1% Damage to Action, and 2% Action Cost Reduction Per 100 Stamina.

Need additional Healing.
Go Medic, get Bacta Ampule (5 Points expertise, fast cooldown timer)
ALL HEALS HAVE SEPERATE TIMERS.
Need more Healing
Get Bacta Grenade
Get Entertainer buff with Healing Potency (15%).
Get PUPs and or Food with Healing Potency (10-13%).

Dealing with Debuffs.
Go Medic, get Serotonin Boost it has a faster timer then Squad Leader Synaptic Stimulator.
Go Squad Leader, get Synaptic Stimulator and Generals Jewelry Set for faster cooldown.

Dealing with DoT's (Damage over Time).
Go Medic, get Cure Affliction it has a faster timer then Squad Leader Environmental Purge, and
covers more DoT's then Run Its Course from Assassin.
Go Medic, get Detox it is a slower timer then Cure Affliction but has less expertise point cost.
Go Squad Leader, get Environmental Purge and Generals Jewelry Set for faster cooldown.

Cannot Hit your Target.
Go Master Smuggler, get Skullduggery, and especially Impossible Odds.
Alternatively increase Precision and Luck.
Note Impossible Odds needs Luck to work well.

Little Bit on Pets
I love pets they can provide a significant defense boost.
About 1/3 of the Bonus of the Pet Stat screen applies to the player.

This is my 60 point pet Midnight. Those 60 points used in creation boost the Bonuses the Pet receives.
Yes that means I am getting roughly 3% Dodge, 3% Parry, 3% Block Chance, 3% Evasion Chance, 3% Strikethrough Chance, 3% Critical Hit Chance...
If you do not see this apply on your own Character Stat screen reapply a buff like Mustafarian Injector to see the stats update.
A dead pet still provides these benefits.
Be sure to get 9 points of Expertise in Beast Mastery to get Harmonious Understanding to remove the -25% damage output.

Basic general guide to new players.
1. Claim travel rewards "/claim" (Instant Travel Vehicle, Luxury Yacht, "/flash" speeder)
2. Level up (You can do this quickly roughly 1 hour from missions or assistance).
3. Get Basic Weapons (Kashyyyk or Mustafar).
4. Get Armor either looted or Teras Kasi Expertise / Commando Expertise (6.5k is plenty for new players).
5. Accumilate Wealth ie credits.
Sell Looted gear to Junk Dealer 7-10k per item (250k per day, per character).
Missions bring alternate characters with you 8-10k per mission per alternate character.
Mustafar Heroics bring alternate characters with you and get 100k per alternate character.
Aurilia Heroics also provide credits for completion or boss reward.
Craft and sell items players want.
6. Build or buy Crafted Armor and Weapons.
Network with players to find crafters.
Place SEA (Skill Enhancement Attachment) on Crafted Armor and Weapons.
SEA's are created by Reverse Engineers
7. Get Mustafarian Injector (Sickness of the Storm Lord quest on Mustafar planet)
8. Get PUPs (created by Reverse Engineers)
9. Get crafted Food (created by Chefs)
10. Team up
Heroics
Events
PVP

Thank you for this, was helpful! :) Could i send you a build i'm working on and get some feedback on it? I picked up the wrong jewellery set when starting out (mis click) and trying to work around it the best I can (was assassin set :rolleyes:) If i could that would be amazing!

In case no one has reached out to you about the jewelry set pick, Chavex said, "We've been kind to folks in that scenario, if you put a ticket in we'll do a one time replacement". We talked about it a bit more and he told me to go to Aurilia and view the sets there. I asked if the char needed to be online for the swap and he said, "Yes pls, once the ticket is in can hit up any of the CSR's in discord when you're available and we'll take care of it".
I did as he suggested and a couple minutes later a CSR responded to my ticket, met me in Aurilia and swapped the sets for me. Hope this helps =)

Tips for new players. View the sets at Aurilia before opening the jewelry reward. I didn't expect there to be two Assassin sets when I opened mine and as a result I hit back without claiming and it claimed the reward anyway. Thankfully the staff were willing to help even tho I wouldn't have had any problem had I checked the vendors first! 🫶
